by solafa on December 31, 2009, 08:50:58 AMOne Art The art of losing isn't hard to master; so many things seem filled with the intent to be lost that their loss is no disaster,
Lose something every day. Accept the fluster of lost door keys, the hour badly spent. The art of losing isn't hard to master.
Then practice losing farther, losing faster: places, and names, and where it was you meant to travel. None of these will bring disaster.
I lost my mother's watch. And look! my last, or next-to-last, of three beloved houses went. The art of losing isn't hard to master.
I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster, some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent. I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.
-- Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident the art of losing's not too hard to master though... 29 Views | 2 Replies

by solafa on August 23, 2009, 07:43:27 AMFew days ago, we were invited for dinner to a friend's or i shall say she used to be a work colleague who her husband used to teach me at university and taught my sister too.
Anyway, when we were at their home, i called the husband with Doctor "fulan", and his wife said, no he is not a doctor but a Professor...and i thought what difference will it makes if i called him doctor or professor, if we are sociolizing in their own home!!!!!!
I had this question since then: does it really matter to call people with these titles? does it really make a difference to call them with the proper title they worked hard to gain them?
Will, you care to be called with the official name/title? will you be bothered if you were not called with them? 361 Views | 12 Replies

From Times Online June 26, 2009
Niqabi, interrupted Wearing my niqab is a choice freely made, for spiritual reasons
Naima B.Robert
I put on my niqab, my face veil, each day before I leave the house, without a second thought. I drape it over my face, tie the ribbons at the back and adjust the opening over my eyes to make sure my peripheral vision is not affected.
Had I a full-length mirror next to the front door, I would be able to see what others see: a woman of average height and build, covered in several layers of fabric, a niqab, a jilbab, sometimes an abayah, sometimes all black, other times blue or brown. A Muslim woman in 'full veil'. A niqabi.
But is that truly how people see me? When I walk through the park with my little... 275 Views | 2 Replies
